Gymnemic Acid Powder Introduction:
Gymnemic acid is an active component isolated from the leaves of Gymnema sylvestre plant which is native to India and southern China. The medicinally active parts of the plant are the leaves and the roots. Plant constituents include two resins (one soluble in alcohol), gymnemic acids, saponins, stigmasterol, quercitol, and the amino acid derivatives betaine, choline, and trimethylamine.
Gymnemic acid has anti-obesity and anti-diabetic properties, and causes decrease in body weight and inhibits glucose absorption.
Several animal studies have been performed to investigate the previous belief about its role in the management of diabetes.
