Botanical source: Polygonum cuspidatum
Resveratrol introduction:
Resveratrol is part of a group of compounds which called polyphenols. They’re thought to act like antioxidants, protecting the body against damage that can put you at higher risk for things like cancer and heart disease and etc.
It is in the root of Polygonum cuspidatum, but you can also find this ingredient in the skin of red grapes, peanuts, berries, and some other foods.
Resveratrol has been promoted to have many health benefits, such as protecting the heart and circulatory system, lowering cholesterol, and protecting against clots which can cause heart attacks and stroke. New animal studies have suggested it can lower blood sugar levels. Because resveratrol is considered an antioxidant, it is often promoted to reduce the incidence of various cancers. Animal studies also suggest resveratrol may lower brain plaque levels in Alzheimer’s disease. However, well-controlled, human clinical trials are lacking in all of these areas and many of the resveratrol claims are based in animal studies in mice.
Resveratrol extracted from natural plants (Such as Polygonum cuspidatum extract) can’t meet people's demand. Therefore, the researchers have been working to develop fast and safe chemical and biosynthetic methods to obtain resveratrol.
Applications:
1. Expanding blood vessels
2. Reducing blood clotting
3. Decrease pain and swelling
4. Reduce levels of sugar in the blood
5. Help body fight against disease
